4th of July Charity Softball Match
Written by Josh Matthews, HBAThe 4th of July saw us host our very first Charity Softball Match in partnership with London Sports, with over 100 guests in total. We have sponsored London Sports over the recent baseball season, contributing to the Scholarship and Infrastructure Fund which enables underprivileged children to join the league free of charge. The charity welcomes both girls and boys aged 5 to 18 to play baseball and softball in a safe and fun environment, and is the UK’s largest and longest established league of its kind.
Our Independence Day event involved a tournament of eight teams made up of players from several different intermediary firms. The atmosphere was fun and friendly and everyone embraced the sporting spirit, putting in huge amounts of effort. Following the tournament and awards ceremony, there was food and beverages provided for all attendees and a chance for everyone to mingle. Representatives from London Sports were in attendance too, as well as five youth players from the league who came along as umpires for the day.
It was a fantastic afternoon down at the Scrubs, and we managed to raise a significant amount of money for London Sports. We hope this will enable the charity to achieve their goal of growing the league and giving every player a chance to learn about the sports, improve their skills and develop self-confidence and self-esteem.
We are already looking forward to next year!
