A Message from our Founders

Balancing Today with Tomorrow

At the heart of our mission lies the delicate balance between meeting today’s needs and safeguarding tomorrow’s possibilities. We believe the well-being of future generations depends on the planet’s enduring health and the responsible use of its resources.

As a forward-thinking business, our goal is to drive sustainable growth and deliver stakeholder value, while upholding our environmental and social responsibilities. We are passionate about championing business practices that minimise negative impact and amplify positive outcomes for society at large.

Socially, our commitment extends to fostering an inclusive society that prioritises well-being, ensures access to essentials, and champions diversity and equal opportunity.

In 2024, we made meaningful progress. Our team embraced wellness and wellbeing through initiatives such as onsite massages, sweet treats, random acts of kindness cards, and raffles. We also celebrated the International Week of Happiness with a happiness photo competition. Additionally, we supported key environmental awareness days, such as Earth Day, World Environment Day and World Refill Day, reinforcing our commitment to eco-consciousness.

We are proud of our accomplishments as a certified B Corporation® and look forward to furthering our commitment in 2025. While there is still much to do, MASECO remains unwavering in its mission to create a positive impact on both society and the natural world.

Being a B Corp

At MASECO we are proud to be a founding member of the UK B Corporation® movement. We believe in business as a force for good, and our commitment to social responsibility is evident in everything we do.

We ensure that the growth of our business benefits not just our team or our owners, but also the wider world. We make donations to our supported organisations every time we take on a new client household, and we are constantly seeking ways to reduce our environmental footprint.

We also support other ‘positive change’ companies through our choice of suppliers, and we engage our team in support of the community in which we work and live. By doing this, we hope to make a positive impact on the world around us.

Our approach to sustainability is supported by looking after our workers, clients, governance, community and environment.

We recognise that our business has an impact on all these areas, and we are committed to minimising any negative impact as well as maximising the positive.

Reasoning behind our B Corp

“We wanted to become a B Corp because we wanted our values to shine through in what we did every day as opposed to just in our personal lives. It was also a signal to our employees, clients and industry peers that we strive to manage and operate our business in an ethical and sustainable manner which is at the heart of what we do. This also influenced the way we support charities, as well as the way we invest, all while promoting the standards of accountability that being a B Corp member represents.

For example, whenever we onboard a new household, we make a charitable donation as part of our commitment to social responsibility. In 2024, we were proud to support the Woolf Institute through this initiative, an organisation dedicated to promoting understanding between Jews, Christians, and Muslims through education, research and dialogue. We also support local charities such as LondonSports and Providence Row, which are detailed in this report.

Before becoming a B-Corp in 2013, we were already big believers in the philosophy of doing well by doing good. Rather than saying, ‘we should become a B Corp because it seems the right thing to do,’ we said, ‘we are already aligned with these values, this is who we are, and it makes sense that we are a part of the movement and use our business to promote these values both internally and externally.”

Governance

“Steering

At MASECO we have a dedicated B Corp Impact Steering Team which comprises of committed individuals from across business functions who provide oversight and guidance on our B Corp and impact programme and initiatives. The team acts as a centre of excellence and mobilises all departments to play their part in the impact programme. The group meets monthly.

The team is supported by MASECO B Corp representatives, who are a trusted group representing a cross-section of business sectors. They meet monthly to support the leadership team with initiatives.

Additionally, MASECO has two further committed teams who raise awareness of delivering positive change and also support in driving culture focused initiatives.

The Culture Committee Team meets monthly and the Awareness Team, which consists of Marketing, Human Resources, the Culture Committee and B Corp representatives, meets quarterly to discuss upcoming awareness days, with Human Resources underpinning all activities at MASECO.

Workers

Sustainable businesses prioritise people. This involves creating fulfilling jobs, fostering a great culture, upholding human rights, and supporting employees. At MASECO, we are dedicated to continual growth and the development of our people, culture, and global impact. Our guiding principles underpin this commitment, promoting fairness and clarity in expectations for all employees.

Our ethos revolves around ‘Freshness and Fairness’, offering comprehensive support to our employees’ overall well-being, encompassing physical, financial, mental, spiritual, and family health.

In 2024, we continued to make good progress across the following areas:

  1. Recruitment and Personal Development
  2. Culture Committee
  3. Health and Wellbeing

  1. Recruitment and Personal Development

In 2024, MASECO’s HR team continued to develop on career development and progression pathways to support career advancement.

Externally, MASECO continued to collaborate with the 10,000 Black Intern Programme to provide young Black individuals in the UK with vital work experience within various industries. During the summer we welcomed an intern from this programme to explore multiple departments at MASECO, enhancing their professional growth.

Additionally, since 2018, MASECO has supported the American School in London by offering students a practical insight into our firm’s operations. They engage with different departments and work on a project that connects their academic learning to the workplace. Furthermore, in the first year of our partnership with Arcadia, a provider of international education programmes, we welcomed an intern from their study abroad initiative.

  1. Culture Committee

At our firm, we understand the pivotal role that a supportive and cohesive office culture plays. To champion this cause, we have a robust Culture Committee. This is a dedicated team of employees drawn from various departments who gather monthly to brainstorm innovative ways to unite our colleagues.

The Culture Committee operates under the stewardship of an appointed leader, who is distinct from the senior management team. This structure is intentional to ensure that the inspiration for new programmes emanates from diverse levels within our organisation, democratising the process and enriching the cultural fabric of our workplace.

In the past year, this committee has successfully implemented ten initiatives, which have had a meaningful impact on our staff, the environment, and the wider community. These initiatives ranged from activities that foster close-knit relationships among team members, to campaigns that increase awareness and raise funds for our chosen charitable causes.

  1. Health and Wellbeing

At MASECO, we’re committed to fostering a work environment where our team members thrive both personally and professionally. Our extensive range of benefits is tailored to nurture the health and happiness of our staff. From complimentary eye exams and allowances for spectacles, to comprehensive private medical and income protection insurance.

When it comes to financial support, we understand the importance of making life outside of work easier for our team. That’s why we offer season ticket loans for commuters, a generous first-home mortgage bonus to help you onto the property ladder, and life assurance for peace of mind.

Our commitment to sharing success is reflected in our annual profit-sharing scheme, rewarding our dedicated team for their collective achievements.

In 2024, we continued to build on our commitment to enhancing workplace culture, launching several new initiatives designed to support our team’s wellbeing and professional growth. Key developments for 2024 include:

  • Introduction of a holiday purchase scheme
  • Early closure at 4pm on Bank Holidays
  • Half-day on the last working day before Christmas and New Year’s
  • Adjusted working hours (finishing at 5:30pm instead of 6:00pm)
  • Introduction of a 15-year long service award
  • Launch of a new employee benefits booklet
  • Enhanced maternity leave provisions

Environment

Safeguarding the environment is not only vital to maintaining the health of our planet, but it’s also essential for the prosperity of present and forthcoming populations. The dialogue around carbon neutrality is gaining momentum, and our efforts to diminish our carbon emissions are steadfast. Ethical considerations aside, keeping track of our consumption patterns helps us to recognise our wastage and manage our resources with greater efficacy. We’ve achieved considerable cutbacks in our consumption of paper, usage of courier services, and electricity utilisation.

Additionally, our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint is complemented by a robust recycling strategy. We use 100% recycled paper and strive to repurpose items that can serve a second life. Our recycling programme currently encompasses paper, cardboard, glass, cans, and particular plastics such as milk containers. Recycling facilities are strategically placed throughout our premises, each marked with clear signage to encourage easy participation.

Our dedication to recycling is resolute; it significantly reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills and plays an important role in saving energy, curbing pollution, and reducing expenses.

In 2024, we took further steps to solidify our commitment to sustainability by relocating to new offices where environmental responsibility remains a key focus. This is exemplified by the building’s green roof, which promotes biodiversity in the heart of the city. As such, the Kodak Building is targeting a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating and WELL Gold certification. Remarkably, it has also achieved an EPC rating of A, despite its Grade II listed status. Our environmental initiatives represent a significant facet of our organisation’s ethos, which we showcase across our firm’s website.

Community

At MASECO we are committed to making a difference in the communities in which we live and work. Working together with our communities can create positive change and build a brighter future for everyone.

Our communities are important to us, and they are stronger when we all work together. We believe in giving back and are committed to making a difference. We are proud to support organisations that positively impact the community.

As a firm, we are committed to being good corporate citizens. We encourage our employees to get involved in their local communities and offer opportunities for them to do so. We also centrally support several local and national charities, detailed within this paper.

We are proud to support several initiatives that help improve the lives of those around us. Our support of the community is not limited to sourcing locally and supporting local businesses but also includes sponsorship and fundraising for a number of different charities, as well as volunteering days being provided to our staff.

Sponsoring and Fundraising

“Charity”

LondonSports

MASECO sponsors and fundraises for LondonSports, the UK’s largest youth baseball and softball league.

For many years we have been the lead sponsor of the league and have organised and hosted charity softball tournaments. In 2024, we hosted our 6th charity event in aid of, and in partnership with, LondonSports. This event was co-sponsored by various other firms in the US/UK ex-pat service business sector, all of whom were recruited by us as sponsors.

Over the years, the tournament has raised more than £90,000 for LondonSports and, in 2024 the event achieved its highest turnout to date, generating thousands for charity.

We try and help others where we can…

As part of our commitment to social responsibility, we make a charitable donation for every new household we onboard. In 2024, we were proud to support the Woolf Institute with a total contribution of £6,615. Established in 1998 and based in Cambridge, the Woolf Institute is a leading academic centre dedicated to the study of interfaith relations among Jews, Christians, and Muslims. With strong ties to the University of Cambridge, the Institute offers educational programmes, conducts research, and engages in public discourse to promote understanding, tolerance, and social cohesion across different faith communities.

Other Charitable Donations

Throughout the years, our unwavering commitment to social responsibility has shone brightly. We’ve consistently stepped up as supporter of numerous charitable organisations, by contributing both monetarily and dedicating our time to volunteer work.

In the year 2024 alone, our collective efforts were met with resounding success as MASECO proudly amassed over £16,000 for various charities, a testament to our team’s generosity and the collective power of charitable giving.

Alongside our work with the Woolf Institute and LondonSports, we donated over £3,000 to the following causes:

  • Action Against Malaria – Works to prevent and treat malaria through mosquito net distribution, education, and access to testing and treatment in vulnerable communities.
  • Supporting Staff Initiatives – Contributions made in support of staff-led fundraising efforts for various charitable causes.
  • Msizi Africa – Supports vulnerable children by providing nutritious meals, access to education and healthcare, and long-term care within their communities.
  • Providence Row – A London-based charity tackling homelessness and supporting people in crisis with housing, employment, and mental health services.
  • Seventeen Charity – A youth-focused organisation empowering young people through education, mentorship, and creative programmes.
  • Sight Savers – Over the past 70 years, Sight Savers has performed millions of eye operations and advocated for the rights of people with disabilities.
  • Single Homeless Project – A London-based charity preventing homelessness and helping vulnerable people transform their lives through housing and support services.

We don’t stop there.

We try and help as many people as we can. The graph shown demonstrates our donations for the period 1 January 2024 – 31 December 2024.
