1. Recruitment and Personal Development
In 2023, MASECO’s HR team introduced an innovative initiative of hosting frequent ‘lunch and learn’ sessions, in order to prioritise continuous learning.
Furthermore, MASECO’s HR team have continued to progress the internal mentoring programme, which fosters skill development and knowledge sharing between mentors and mentees and continues to support employee participation in industry events and relevant training for career advancement.
Externally, MASECO collaborated with the 10,000 Black Intern Programme to provide young Black individuals in the UK with vital work experience within various industries. During the summer we welcomed an intern from this programme to explore multiple departments at MASECO, enhancing their professional growth.
Additionally, since 2018, MASECO has supported the American School in London’s WorkX Programme by offering two students a practical insight into our firm’s operations. They engage with different departments and work on a project that connects their academic learning to the workplace.
2. Culture Committee
At our firm, we understand the pivotal role that a supportive and cohesive office culture plays. To champion this cause, we’ve established a robust Culture Committee. This is a dedicated team of employees drawn from various departments who gather monthly to brainstorm innovative ways to unite our colleagues.
The Culture Committee operates under the stewardship of an appointed leader, who is distinct from the senior management team. This structure is intentional to ensure that the inspiration for new programmes emanates from diverse levels within our organisation, democratising the process and enriching the cultural fabric of our workplace.
In the past year, this committee has successfully implemented over ten initiatives, which have had a meaningful impact on our staff, the environment, and the wider community. These initiatives ranged from activities that foster close-knit relationships among team members, to campaigns that increase awareness and raise funds for our chosen charitable causes.
3. Health and Wellbeing
At MASECO, we’re committed to fostering a work environment where our team members thrive both personally and professionally. In 2023, we took our commitment a step further, launching several initiatives to enrich our workplace culture. A couple of examples of these are as follows:
- International Week of Happiness at Work (September 2023): We brightened up the workweek by providing breakfast and lunch for all team members, coupled with relaxing massages for those based in the office.
- Staff Away Day: We indulged our staff with a Sound Healing Session, an immersive experience designed to rejuvenate the mind, body, and soul.
