Our Founding Story

Founded in 2008 by Josh Matthews and James Sellon, the story of MASECO is punctuated by firsts. Continually breaking new ground, MASECO is proud to be a pioneer in: leveraging a US platform; securing tax efficient funds in both the UK and the US; providing US, UK, and Offshore Custody services; and introducing IRAs, 529s, and SIPPs for US families in a single offer. In 2013, Josh and James successfully lobbied the FCA (UK Regulator) to create a carve out for US families in order for them to continue to be able to invest in US mutual funds.

MASECO have enabled thousands of families to achieve outcomes that were either labelled too complex, or did not exist before. Through the implementation of tax-efficient strategies, academically driven investment theory and proprietary cross-border products, MASECO have reinvented the relationship between US and UK families and their global wealth.

2008

MASECO Private Wealth is born

Josh Matthews and James Sellon (and two other founders at the time) created MASECO Private Wealth in June of 2008, to serve the investment and wealth planning needs of US and global citizens.

2011

Awards & Recognition**

MASECO wins PAM Award for Investment Product and Service Innovation, with the Managing Partners making the Outstanding Young Private Bankers List (Private Banker International).

2013

B Corp Pioneer

In December, MASECO was the first UK financial services firm to be awarded B Corp. or “benefit corporation” certification.

James Sellon wins Spear’s High-Net-Worth Asset Manager of the Year
MASECO Asia is founded
