The Female Wealth Lens: Confidence, Community & The Power of Giving
Written by Jen EathorneIn recognition of International Women’s Day 2026
At MASECO Private Wealth, we believe that when women feel confident, informed, and supported in their financial lives, the impact reaches far beyond individual decision‑making – it strengthens families, communities, and future generations. This International Women’s Day, inspired by the 2026 theme “Give To Gain”, we explore how giving knowledge, time, space, and support helps women rise – and how, in turn, we all rise with them.
To celebrate the day, Wealth Managers Jen Eathorne and Emma James sat down to record our latest podcast episode, The Female Wealth Lens: Values, Goals & Emotional Connection.
The conversation is a powerful and honest look at how women experience wealth, how the industry is evolving, and how MASECO is deepening our female client offering.
How Far We’ve Come – and Where We’re Going
It’s staggering to reflect that it was only in 1975 that women in the UK were able to open a bank account in their own name. Fast‑forward to today and the landscape is transforming:
- We’re seeing more female entrepreneurs,
- A notable rise in female wealth, and
- Many more women wanting to take an active role in shaping their financial futures.
Jen and Emma discuss how this shift is reflected in their own lives – having candid money conversations with friends, sisters, and colleagues that would once have been considered uncomfortable or inappropriate. Today, these conversations are empowered, open, and necessary. Sharing experiences is one of the best ways women learn from one another – a perfect reflection of the “Give To Gain” theme.
Women and Life Transitions: Navigating Complexity with Support
Emma recently attended a US conference focused on women and wealth, and the themes echoed what we see daily at MASECO. Women often face significant emotional and financial challenges during major life transitions such as:
- Motherhood
- Career changes
- Retirement
- Divorce
- Becoming a widow
These moments can bring deep feelings of overwhelm. Jen and Emma speak candidly about how common, and normal, this is. Importantly, they highlight that MASECO’s role is not simply to manage assets, but to support women through uncertainty, helping them feel grounded and supported when life changes suddenly.
Looking Ahead: 60% of Wealth in Female Hands by 2030
By 2030, an estimated 60% of UK wealth is expected to be owned or controlled by women – through both life transitions and the creation of their own wealth.
Yet despite this huge shift, women have historically been left out of financial conversations and decisions, which has contributed to the often‑cited confidence gap, even when levels of knowledge are similar to men.
Jen and Emma discuss how the MASECO process directly addresses this gap by:
- Encouraging collaboration and education,
- Creating space for questions,
- Anchoring decisions in values and goals,
- And empowering women to feel in control of their future.
The Confidence Gap & How We Help Close It
Research consistently shows that women tend to rank themselves lower in financial literacy than men, even when their understanding is on par. This lack of confidence can make financial decisions feel daunting.
Through deeper discovery sessions and our cash‑flow planning process, we create an environment where clients feel able to express their worries, ask questions without hesitation, and see clearly how decisions today support outcomes decades into the future.
Jen’s key question for clients of – “What’s your biggest worry?” – often unlocks meaningful insights. Mapping out worst‑case scenarios on paper frequently brings reassurance and a sense of control that replaces anxiety with confidence.
Why Community Matters
The importance of female networks, peer learning, and safe spaces to talk openly about finances is a theme that runs throughout the podcast.
MASECO’s previous women’s events have shown the power of shared experience, and we look forward to building on this with our Women’s Event in March 2026, where we’ll deepen community connections, provide practical tools, and create more opportunities for women to learn from one another.
As women continue to feel more confident raising their hands to say, “I don’t understand yet, but I want to”, our goal is to provide the safe space, guidance, and resources to support them.
